Till 2nd May 2015, Hermes introduces 'Wanderland'
Eleven rooms of the Saatchi Gallery, London have been transformed to Parisian
inspired interiors including a café of lost objects and another with tiles on
the floor of which make noises when the visitor steps on them.
Flânerie themed exhibition, translating from the French, term of wandering without purpose. This is what Pierre-Alexis Dumas, the
artistic creator of Hermes, explains as the description of the exhibition, “My
hope is that people come to the show, maybe forget reality... We must never
lose our ability to dream, to wander, to go with the flow and let ourselves be
surprised”.
From day-to-day life guests emerge to a dream-like fantasy.

The
image above shows futuristic wonky windows in a dimly light room allowing
guests to escape everyday life and look at simplistic objects from a different
angle. Windows, which should be showing the outside world is blacked out and
the windows looking into another room show a snowy winter setting.
A realistic shop window but containing a blue horse head as a mounted trophy
and several Hermes jackets, purses and bags all hung on the wall by branches
coming out of the wall.
'In a Wonderland they lie
Dreaming as the days go by
Dreaming as the summers die,
Ever drifting down the stream
Lingering in the golden gleam
Life, what is it but a dream'
Life is but a Dream / Alice's Poem
Lewis Carroll - 1872
